St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, (1769-1852) a French missionary and educator,was a member of the Congregation of the Religious of the Sacred Heart . She founded many schools and orphanages in the United States and worked among the Potawatomi peoples in Kansas, who called her the Woman who Prays Always. She was canonized in 1988.
