| International Campaign to Ban Land Mines
A recently published (2006) book is highly recommended to all:
“ A path is made by walking it ” ed. Patricia Pak Poy RSM.
The book is subtitled “ Reflections on the Australian Network to Ban Landmines 1991 – 2006".
It is a collection of essays, some quite short; but despite its modest format, it presents a challenge to any and every person with an honest open mind.
Please contact David Lovell Publishing for more information on this book and also please take time to visit the website of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. |

Sacred Heart Alumnae at MIT
3 Sacred Heart alums are currently involved in a fascinating project at MIT. The students are: Anna Jaffe and Juliana Kunz (both Stuart Country Day, '03) and Kristen Uhmeyer (Convent of the Sacred Heart, '05). MaryAnne Bitetto (Stuart, '02) was also involved last year.
These young women, along with other MIT students, have organized an international consortium of student-led teams at different universities to work on global-scale problems. The teams are currently working together in a project called the Vehicle Design Summit. Through the Summit, the group is designing a 200-mile per gallon plug-in hybrid vehicle intended for everyday use. This experimental vehicle will be entered in the automotive X-prize competition for efficiency.
The students are looking for potential sponsors, mentors, and advocates for their project. You can learn more about the Vehicle Design Summit, by reading the summary posted on MIT's website. |
